Configure Product Images in WooCommerce

1 min read

After installing and activating WooCommerce and all necessary plugins, it’s important to configure your product image settings to ensure your online store looks professional and visually appealing. This guide will walk you through the steps to set up your product images correctly.

Step 1: Access the Product Image Settings #

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Appearance > Customize.
  3. In the Customizer panel, go to WooCommerce > Product Images.

Step 2: Adjust Image Dimensions #

  1. Main Image Width:
    • Set this to 650. This size is used for the main product image on individual product pages.
  2. Thumbnail Width:
    • Set this to 465. This size is used for product thumbnails displayed in your store’s catalog and product galleries.
  3. Thumbnail Cropping:
    • Choose the 1:1 option to crop all images into perfect squares. This creates a uniform and clean grid layout for your store.

Step 3: Publish Your Changes #

  1. Once you’ve adjusted the settings, click the Publish button at the top of the Customizer to save your changes.
  2. Refresh your website to see the updated product image sizes in action.

Additional Tips #

  • If your images appear blurry, ensure that the original images you upload are at least as large as the dimensions you’ve set in the WooCommerce settings.
  • Regenerate thumbnails after changing image dimensions to apply the new sizes to existing images. You can use the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to do this easily.

By properly configuring your product image settings, you’ll enhance the overall visual appeal of your ShopWell store and provide a better shopping experience for your customers.
